About Alex Thompson
Alex Thompson is an associate attorney at Key Law Office. She is a dedicated family law attorney serving clients throughout Central Texas, primarily in Hays, Travis, Comal, and Blanco counties. Born and raised in the Austin area, Alex brings deep community roots and a practical understanding of the families she represents. She graduated with honors from the University of Mississippi, earning a Bachelor of Business Administration in Corporate Marketing and Relations.
Alex earned her law degree from Baylor University School of Law, becoming the first attorney in her family. While at Baylor, she completed the Family Law Professional Track and was recognized as a Public Interest Fellow for completing over 250 hours of pro bono service.
Prior to attending law school, Alex gained several years of experience working as a litigation assistant and paralegal in family law practices, where she developed a strong foundation in case management, trial preparation, and client advocacy. Her legal background also includes experience with the Office of the Attorney General’s Child Support Division and multiple judicial and prosecutorial divisions, providing her with a well-rounded perspective on family law proceedings and courtroom practice.
Since returning to her Central Texas community, Alex has focused exclusively on family law matters, representing clients in divorce, child custody and support matters, enforcement actions, and modifications. She is committed to guiding clients through challenging situations with clarity, diligence, and practical solutions.
Known for her thoughtful approach and attention to detail, Alex works closely with clients to develop strategies tailored to their individual goals. She believes that strong negotiation and thoughtful compromise often lead to effective and lasting outcomes. However, she is also comfortable in a courtroom and experienced in taking complex or high-conflict cases to court when necessary. Different cases require different strategies and Alex approaches each client with a tailored approach with an eye for developing effective plans for meaningful resolution.
Alex is a long-time board member of the Hays County Bar Association, an active member of the Hays County Bar Association’s Family Law Section, and currently serves as the Course Director for the Dating Violence Mock Trial Program in collaboration with Dripping Springs ISD, where she helps educate high school students on dating violence awareness and prevention.
